Two songwriters, one sound.
Stewart v. Steakelum is an American songwriting duo formed in Reading Pennsylvania, in 2017. The group consists of Bradley Stewart (vocals, drums, organ, harmonica) and Brendan Steakelum (guitar, bass, piano, vocals). The sound draws heavily from a mutual love of 1960s rock, pop, and folk songwriting and structure. Echoes of Lennon/McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, and The Byrds can be heard in their performances. Stewart and Steakelum, friends since childhood, possess an almost telepathic musical connection, and their collaboration attempts to create a timeless kind of music, but also to push the boundaries of pop and rock music forward through innovative recording and sound experimentation.
